TO FTP IN A WINDOWS LAB ON CAMPUS Goto Start->Programs->Communications and click on Winsock FTP In the window that opens enter the following: Profile Name: Calclab HostName/Address: calclab1.math.tamu.edu HostType: Automatic Detect UserID: ENTER CALCLAB ID (mine is p-dostert for example) Password: ENTER PASSWORD HERE NOTE: make sure "anonymous" is NOT checked. You may also have to enter your password a second time. Once you have established a connection, you will see your calclab files on the right. The local computer (the one your sitting at) will be on the left. To get a file off the calclab machine, click on the file you want, the hit the <- arrow. This will move the file you highlighted into the directory listed on the top left of the screen (maybe like J:/..something/ if you are in a lab). To change which directory you want the file to ba saved in click ChgDir in the left window, and type in the directory you want. For example, if I were in the blocker lab, I would hit ChngDir and type U: . This will go to my files in the blocker lab. NOTE: This process will NOT erase your file on the calclab machines. It will just copy that file and put it onto the windows machine you are on. --------------------------------------- TO USE XPRINT FROM THE CALCLAB MACHINES First, you need to set up an Xprint account. Do this using claim in a windows lab. Make sure in claim you click Xprint and set up a password (I suggest the same password as your windows login). If you have no idea what I'm talking about when I say claim, then after you go into the main entrance into blocker, walk toward the lab, and on your left there will a large computer lab. On your right will be a group of desks. Ask someone there for help in setting up your claim password and xprint account. To print a maple file. First save your file. Then go to print, and the 1st option should be print to a file. It will have an option for the name of the file (should be like lab.ps). MAKE SURE there are no spaces in the file (for example /u/m151_520/p-dostert/lab 1.ps is NOT good but /u/m151_520/p-dostert/lab1.ps is fine). Once you have printed this file as a .ps, next open up a shell (click the shell icon on the bottom of the screen). Then type: xprint -d blocker lab1.ps (or instead of lab1.ps, the name of your file). You'll have to type your xprint user name, then password. If you get confirmation that the file printed, it will be located in the Blocker Windows lab. Good luck getting everything to work.
