Title: Algebraic hypergeometric functions (Graduate Lecture)

Abstract: A-hypergeometric functions are the (multivalued) holomorphic solutions to the holonomic system of hypergeometric linear partial differential equations defined from an integer matrix A and a  parameter vector. These systems beautifully generalize to the multidimensional case classical Gauss hypergeometric equation and were proposed by Gelfand, Kapranov and Zelevinsky in the late eighties, integrating tools from algebraic geometry and combinatorics to the theory.  Following joint work with E. Cattani, F. Martinez and F. Rodriguez Villegas, I will describe geometrically defined algebraic A-hypergeometric functions.
