Description: Title: Representations of Lie groups
Abstract: A representation of a group G is a vector space with a G acting by linear automorphisms. Classification of representations of Lie groups has important applications in geometry, harmonic analysis and number theory. I will review the basics and illustrate it with an example. Then I will propose a new geometric way to understand the representations.
