Description:

Title: Rational curves on hypersurfaces

Abstract:
A hypersurface is the set of points in projective space cut out by a single polynomial equation. We explore how the degree and dimension of a very general hypersurface relates to the geometry of its spaces of rational curves. As we go, we will see results on rational curves in hypersurfaces as examples of a major motivating theme in algebraic geometry: that positivity of the canonical controls the geometry and arithmetic of the variety.
