Description: Title: Nonlinear Dispersive and Wave Equations
Abstract: Nonlinear dispersive and wave equations model a variety of wave propagation phenomena in nature - from the dynamics of Bose-Einstein condensates to the spreading of gravitational waves. In this talk I will give an introduction to these partial differential equations and present two of my research directions. On the one hand I am interested in the long-time dynamics of nonlinear wave equations with random initial data and on the other hand I study questions of global existence and scattering for geometric dispersive equations.
