Note that no matter what two points along a line you choose to use in computing the slope, you will always get the same value for the slope. You can change the points used in the formula by grabbing the right angle vertex and dragging it with your mouse, even across the slanted line. |
If you want to change the line, use the text boxes below to change the slope or the y-intercept of the line (or both). Make sure you press the button "Change Values" to enter changes. The x-range and y-range are set to be [-1,5].Notice that the points on the lines that make up the right triangle share some similarities. The two points on the flat (or horizontal) line have the same y-coordinate. The two points on the straight-up (or vertical) line have the same x-coordinate. Does this mean that there is something special about these kinds of lines?
