Summary

The Student Technician will be responsible for the technical support and configuration of the Department of Mathematics WWW page; provide technical assistance on usage of system components to department personnel.

Duties

Provides individual faculty, staff and graduate students with technical assistance on usage of system components that do not require a system analyst's attention; manages the Department's inventory records of computer equipment and ensures that broken or malfunctioning equipment is sent out for repair.

Received:
Receives general instruction from the Senior Systems Analyst and the Systems Analyst.

None.

Education

Required:
High school degree with supplemental college level courses in mathematics or computer science.

Experience

Required:
0-2 years (depending on education level) experience in programming computer system. Must have working knowledge of UNIX and networking. Familiarity with common math software packages (TeX, Maple, Mathematica) a plus. Should be able to work on direct tasks with minimal supervision and have excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
