*********************Math 663 - Seminar in Analysis, Spring Semester 2018* *Topics in Classical Fourier Analysis* *Instructor: Sivakumar* Enriched by the work of many renowned masters, Fourier Analysis is an old and charming field of mathematics, one for which the instructor has a marked affinity. The proposed course will discuss what little he knows of this vast and multi-faceted subject, from the standpoint of classical analysis. The intention is to cover elements of the following topics: Fourier Series, Fourier Transforms, and Distribution Theory. Familiarity with some measure theory (as encountered in a course such as Math 447 or Math 607) will be assumed. A bit of complex analysis will make an appearance at some stage, but it is not a prerequisite for the most part. The material ought to appeal to those who are interested in classical analysis, as well as to those whose studies involve subjects which call upon Fourier Analysis as a tool. ********************
