Carl Maxson receives Honorary Doctorate from the Johannes Kepler University
Dear All:
On Tuesday, November 29th, the Johannes Kepler University presented an Honorary Doctorate to Carl Maxson for his outstanding contributions to Algebra.
Carl Maxson is a world-renowned expert on near-rings and their connections to other areas of mathematics. He is the author of over 150 papers. He has held multiple Visiting Professorships at Teesside Polytechnic, England, Johannes Kepler University, Austria, the Universities of Stellenbosch and of the Orange Free State, South Africa, and the University of Hamburg, Germany. In addition, he was a SERC Fellow at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. He has advised 14 Masters students and 12 Ph.D. students.
Carl came to Texas A&M in 1969 as an Associate Professor of Mathematics. Over his career here, he held administrative positions in the College of Science as Assistant Dean in 1977-78 and as Associate Dean during 1982-87. He furthermore served as Acting Head of Mathematics during 1978-80. Since 2002, he holds the rank of Professor Emeritus of Mathematics.
