Title: A Tutorial on Network Coding.

Abstract:

The advent of network coding promises to benefit many areas of communication and networking. The network coding approach generalizes traditional routing by allowing intermediate network nodes to mix incoming data packets. This approach has a great potential for improving the throughput, robustness, reliability and security of networking and distributed systems. This is a fascinating new research area that employs methods and tools from linear algebra and graph theory. This tutorial provides an overview of the methods and tools developed in the recent years and outlines some of their potential applications.
