Wed. July 6 through Fri. July 8.
Workshop has been cancelled.
![]()
This year's workshop will be taught by Prof. Phil Yasskin. Phil has been involved with the inclusion of Maple in our teaching efforts at Texas A&M University for many years. He is an acknowledged expect and has been designated a Maple Ambassador by Maple. In Fall 2000 his website
http://www.math.tamu.edu/~yasskin/animaple
won the best Maple website award.
In addition to learning how to use the Maple CAS (Computer Algebra System),
participants of the workshop will also have the opportunity to see how the Department
of Mathematics at Texas A&M University has integrated this tool into its
engineering calculus sequence, from first semester calculus through differential
equations.

On-Campus Housing for the workshop is offered on the TAMU Campus in the Southside dorms. Check out the modular style floor plan of these rooms. Rates, which includes linens and towels, are as follows: single room - $35.00/night ($175.00/week); double room - $23.00/night ($115.00/week). If you indicate in your registration that you desire on-campus housing, reservations will be made for you.
Off-Campus Housing is available at several motels/hotels located near the campus.
Vineyard Court Executive Suites ( 888/846-2678) is one block south and one block east of the main campus. The suites include a fully-equipped kitchen and living room for ~ $99.00/night for a one-bedroom suite. The Hampton Inn (800/426-7866; ~ $70.00 - $80.00/night) is two blocks north of campus on the west side of Texas Avenue.
The Aggieland Kiva Inn (800/228-5150; ~ $55.00 - $59.00/night) is two blocks north of campus on the east side of Texas Avenue.
The LaQuinta Inn (800/531-5900; ~$79.00 - $89.00/night) is one block south of TAMU.
If you decide to use off-campus accommodations, we ask that you make your own reservations. Please note: all rates for off-campus housing are approximate only, and subject to change.
Parking is available in the Northside Parking Garage, which is next to the Blocker Building, where the workshop will be held, and close to the dorm where participants who desire on campus housing will be staying. Parking fees are $15.00/day for a guaranteed spot. If this is too expensive, you can just try to park in the Northside garage on your own. The cost will then be about $12 per day. If you don't mind a short 10 to 15 minute walk you can get a reserved spot for $10 per day in the West Campus Parking Garage, or you can just drive in and pay no more than $6 per day. It is probably the case that you will be able to find a space in the West Campus Garage, and not find a space in the Northside Garage. The West Campus parking garage is located across Wellborn Road from the football stadium, and is about 1 mile to the Blocker building where the workshops will be held. You may also avail yourself of the campus bus service at no charge. The city of College Station has a parking garage located at 309 College Main Street, which is approximately 6 blocks from Blocker. The daily cost for this is about $2.00.
Shuttle bus service will available between the Southside area and the Blocker Building and between the West Campus Garage and the Blocker building. Check Traditions for specific times and location of stops.
