The Workshop on Semiclassical Approximation and Vacuum Energy to be held at Texas A&M University will bring together researchers in semiclassical approximation, trace theorems, vacuum energy, Bose condensation, quantum graphs, and spectral geometry.

The principal speakers will be Professor Uzy Smilansky of the Department of the Physics of Complex Systems of the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel and Professor Jens Bolte of the Department of Theoretical Physics of the University of Ulm in Germany. Some expository references on these topics can be found on the background reading page.

The Workshop is committed to the strengthening and enrichment of the mathematics and physics personnel base and of research interaction, especially in the Texas-Oklahoma-Louisiana region. The program will include ample time for informal research discussions and opportunities for junior researchers and those from small institutions to become better acquainted with the regional research community. All participants are requested to Register. When you register, please provide a link to a Web page that provides some information about yourself and your research. This may be either your regular home page or a statement prepared specifically for this purpose. You are encouraged to bring reprints and preprints, posters, and brief (at most 10 minute) presentations in the "let's get acquainted" spirit.

Longer talks must be "on topic" (clearly related to the subject matter of the workshop) with title and description submitted to the Organizer before December 20, 2004. Nominations of speakers by third parties are also welcome. No guarantee of inclusion on the program can be made before January 3, 2005.

NOTE: The advertised REGISTRATION FEE of 15.00 has been waived for all participants.

NOTE: Please complete your registration by January 5, 2005 in order to make sure that your room is reserved.

The workshop is supported by the National Science Foundation and the Department of Mathematics at Texas A&M University. Administrative questions? Please contact Dr. Stephen Fulling, Workshop Organizer, or Mary Chapman, Program Assistant.
