Abstract

Title: The loop shortening property for groups

Abstract: We introduce a new property of finitely generated group presentations, that is highly visual and related to many interesting properties in geometric group theory, such as almost covexity and the enjoyment of a quadratic isoperimetric function.

After proving a few surprizing facts about the property we give examples which exhibit a diverse array of properties, some having the loop shortening property and some not.
