Abstract

In the talk, we consider a posteriori error estimates of a new type that has been derived for any conforming approximation of the exact solution by methods of the calculus of variations and PDE's theory. There performance is exposed on 3 typical problems: linear elliptic boundary value problem, Stokes problem, and an elliptic variational inequality. Practical applicability of the estimates is discussed and illustrated by series of numerical experiments.
