Title: Error Estimation and Superconvergence for DG Methods
Time: 3:00-4:00 pm
Place: Blocker 628

Abstract

The discontinuous Galerkin (DG) methods are a family of locally conservative, stable and high-order accurate methods that are easily coupled with other well-known methods. Moreover, DG methods are well-suited for parallel and adaptive strategies. For these reasons, they have attracted the attention of many researchers working in computational fluid dynamics, computational mechanics, computational mathematics and computer science. In this talk we present some superconvergence properties of DG methods applied to elliptic, parabolic and hyperbolic problems. Efficient and accurate a posteriori error estimation techniques will also be discussed.
