Title: Multiphase flow in fractured reservoirs
Time: 3:00-4:00 pm
Place: Blocker 503

Abstract

Flow of fluids and transport of solutes in porous media are subjects of wide interest in several fields of applications: reservoir engineering, subsurface hydrology, chemical engineering, etc. An important part of the work is adaptive local refinement at faults and highly fractured zones, based on domain decomposition type of methods. This type of technique will be implemented both for the pressure/velocity part as well as the flow part of the model. Therefore, error control and adaptivity is a very important part of the work. Continuity in both the flux and potential across a surface is essential for accuracy and we will compare a two-points flux molecule with a high order flux molecule (O-method). Numerical results from the project will be presented.
