Texas A&M was founded in 1876, and is the oldest public institution of higher learning in the State of Texas. Two of the original six professors at A&M were mathematicians. There are currently 113 instructors, 95 graduate students, and 340 undergraduates in the Mathematics Department.
The Department offers three degrees with several options, which allow our majors to choose a plan that is best suited to their academic and career objectives. We encourage advanced science and/or engineering majors to obtain a minor in mathematics.
