Why Math?
I am eighteen and about to begin something huge, a thing that will define my character and direct my future. What could this possibly be? College! At this place, I am supposed to have the best four years of my life and find my bridesmaids. There is so much to do - going to parties, football games, Bible studies, clubs and organizations; hanging out with friends; and oh, yeah, almost forgot, studying -- number one on my "why I am going to college" list. I figured the best way to have a 4.0 GPR, stay motivated, and enjoy studying, is to study what I have always loved. In about three weeks I will be debuting as an Applied Math with Finance major. I was drawn to math and money by the time I could count. I have always understood math and received high grades in this subject. Even though it is a complex science, I love the order, logic, and usefulness because I am a practical, logical, neat freak. Math is used for every aspect of life but mostly with money. I have been blessed with a money mind and parents who wisely taught me the value of a penny. I have become a tightwad who enjoys saving, investing, budgeting, and planning my monetary future. I chose this major that I might improve these skills. Studying hard at my dream major will pay off in four years because then I will be able to start my dream job of using math to help people wisely manage their financial resources.
