Scholarships and Financial Aid
The Mathematics Department offers several scholarships each year to incoming freshmen (Fall semester only). The scholarships are $500.00 per year and the selection is based upon an essay that the applicant submits explaining why they want to be a Math Major (minimum of 250 words). Scholarships
for Sophomore and Junior Math Majors
The
Math Department recently established funds to provide
Academic Achievement in Mathematics Scholarships for current Math Majors. These
scholarships are to be awarded to students demonstrating academic
excellence in Mathematics. They are one year scholarships and the amount is dependent
upon available departmental funds. The primary consideration in awarding these
scholarships is academic achievement; however, activities and
leadership may also be considered. Applications are available online through the College of Science
from February 1 - March 31st each spring. The online application can be found at:

The
Elizabeth Wade Lepley Endowed Scholarship in the College of Science
This
scholarship is awarded to a freshman mathematics major and continues
through their sophomore year as long as they maintain a minimum
overall GPA of 3.0 and eligibility requirements and selection
criteria are met. The scholarship is $1,250.00 and is paid half at
the start of the fall semester and half at the start of the spring
semester. Recipient is selected by appointed departmental scholarship committee.
Candidates must receive a recommendation from a math professor and
submit a minimum 250 word, "Why I Want to Major in Math" essay if they did not do so in the fall.
Mary
& Robert N. Walker Endowed Scholarship
This
scholarship is awarded to a freshman mathematics major and is
subject to renewable for three (3) additional years providing the student
recipient remains a mathematics major and in good standing at Texas
A&M University. The scholarship is $1,000.00 and is paid in equal increments at the
start of the fall and spring semesters. Recipient is selected by appointed
departmental scholarship committee.Candidates must receive a recommendation from a math professor and
submit a minimum 250 word, "Why I Want to Major in Math" essay if they did not do so in the fall.

The Honors Program Office also offers competitive scholarships. Other forms of financial aid and work study programs are available from the Office of Student Financial Aid, located on the second floor of the Pavilion.
