MCTP: Available Facilities

Texas A&M University is ranked fifth, nationally, in NSF research and development expenditures. A&M ranks tenth in enrollment of national merit scholars and is among the top five in total student enrollment. Current university library holdings include over 2.4 million volumes and 20,000 serial titles.

The Mathematics Department has approximately 80 tenure-track and tenured members of the department, approximately 20 professorial visitors and approximately 25 lecturers, making it one of the largest math departments in the country. Our research is well-funded by many governmental agencies. Teaching is also important with many of our faculty having won collegiate and university teaching awards. The mathematics department is housed in two buildings, Blocker and Milner. Most of the classrooms used by the three programs will be in Blocker where there are computer labs dedicated to the math department.

Computer Facilities. The math department has five computer laboratories, containing a combined total of more than 200 Linux workstations. For the duration of the program, each student participant will be provided with one of these workstations, with access to Matlab, Maple, e-mail, Internet, and a variety of word processors. The department's laboratories, and many of our lecture halls, have instructor workstations and high resolution LCD projectors. Student participants will be able to use this equipment for their group presentations.
