Prediction of the First Water Shell of a Protein
In our ongoing research, we examine the properties of the first layer of waters around a protein. More research leads to the prediction of the locations and orientations of water molecules around a protein. It has been suggested that the first layers of water around a protein play a part in the way a protein folds, and thus affect the protein’s function. Prediction of a protein’s fold is extremely important in many aspects of biochemistry, such as the creation of new drugs.
