    Teaching

    Regularly Scheduled Classes Taught

    Graduate Students Supervised

I was instrumental in the award of a three month EGRES Scholarship for Lavanya Kannan to the Operations Research Department of Eotvos University in Budapest, Hungary (2004).

    Other teaching-related activities

  • Applied for a National Security Agency grant (jointly with Hong-Jian Lai of West Virginia University and Zhi-Hong Chen of Butler University, Indianapolis, IN, in October, 2002, for funding in summer, 2004, ID # 03G-104. (Application declined)

    Graph Families

    • Joint work with Hong-Jian Lai of West Virginia University and Mark Ordower, presently not affiliated with a university.

    Honors and Awards

    None.

    Additional Activities

    Papers Produced

    • H. Fleischner, A. M. Hobbs, M. T. Muzheve, and G. Sabidussi, "Vertex Envelopes of Plane Cubic Graphs," 28 pages, submitted to J. Graph Theory.

    Curriculum reform

Recently, the Faculty Senate passed a requirement, to become effective in the 2006 catalog, that each degree program would require two courses, normally in the major field of each student, in which one credit hour is devoted to writing. Normally the departments will provide these courses as portions of the courses required of their majors. The courses will be designated as W-Courses. Math 220 has been accepted by committee and forwarded to the Faculty Senate for inclusion as a W-Course. I have taught Math 220 twice as a W-course, once using CPR (which was not satisfactory in my opinion) and once using essays (which worked well). In addition, I have reformulated Math 613 into a qualifier course, taught in this form in Spring 2004 and Spring 2005.

    Student services

    • MENTOR (1980- ).
    • AGGIE ALLY (1999- ).

    Grants and Contracts

    None. ________________________________________________________________
