Fall 2015
Howdy and welcome to Math 151! Below are a few items for you to know before the first day of classes:
- YES you do go to lab on Monday, Aug 31. During this time, you will get oriented with Matlab, meet your TA, and begin the Matlab set up. If you miss lab, you will start off the semester behind and this will put you at a disadvantage.
- Here is the Syllabus for all my 151 sections. Please print it and bring it with you to class Tuesday.
- Go to WebAssign . First, read the Student Information Page where you will obtain information regarding the eBook and graded homework. Secondly, log in using your NetId and password. This will automatically place you in my WebAssign class.
- Print Appendix D and section 1.1 lecture notes and bring them with you to class Tuesday. This page will be updated as the semester progresses.
- There will be a short quiz this Wednesday over Appendix D. At the beginning of recitation, you will have an opportunity to ask the TA questions.
- Visit me in office hours MW 3-5 pm BLOC 246
Tuesday Sept 1
- Today in class, we did most of Appendix D lecture notes
- Wednesday in lab, you will have a quiz over Appendix D.
- Quiz 0 This quiz is due in lab next Monday, Sept 14.
- Thursday during class, we will complete secion 1.1 lecture notes
Thursday Sept 3
- Today in class, we did most of section 1.1 lecture notes I will finish this section in class Tuesday and will begin section 1.2
- Wednesday in lab, you will have a quiz over section 1.1
- Quiz 0 This quiz is due in lab next Monday, Sept 14.
- Scantron Turn three of these scantrons to your TA the week of the common exam. Please fill it out exactly as shown.
Tuesday Sept 8
- Today in class, we finished section 1.1 and did examples 1-5 of section 1.2. Will finish 1.2, and begin 1.3 Thursday in class lecture notes
- Tomorrow (Wednesday) in lab, you will have a quiz over section 1.1 through the problems I got through last Thursday. More specifically, examples 1-6.
- Quiz 0 This quiz is due in lab next Monday, Sept 14.

- Scantron Due Monday Sept 21. NO LATE SCANTRONS WILL BE ACCEPTED

- Exams will be reuturned in lab Monday (we must wait until all make up exams have been taken). I will post the exam grades to ecampus before Thursday.

Exam Week
- Exam II falls this week and covers 3.2-4.1. The exam is Thursday, October 29, 7:30-9:30 pm. BLOC 102
- The best way to prepare for the common exam is to look through the lecture notes and work the ones you are not sure about. The suggested homework is a way for you to have more practice. Once you feel prepared, print a past common exam (see link below). Take the exam and time yourself. You will have two hours to complete the exam. Once you are done, check your work against the key.
- Here are instructions you will be required to follow during the common exam.

- There will be two Week in Review sessions. Sunday and Tuesday

- There will be no graded assignments in lab this week. Use this opportunity to ask the TA questions.
- Come to office hours (MW 3-5) to get help. I reserve a conference room (BLOC 246) and students sit around a large table and work together on the homework. I circulate the room and take questions.
Tuesday Nov 3
- Today in class, we did section 4.2 and most of section 4.3 lecture notes
- Tomorrow (Wednesday) in lab, you will have a quiz over the rest of section 4.2 and part of 4.3 (what I got to in class)
- Exams have been graded and scores will be posted in ecampus by tomorrow afternoon.
