Some photos

When I moved to Austin, I got myself a digital camera, making it simpler to allow others to trace my ways in this new country. So this is the place for the friends at home to see where I have been...

Going fishing (July 2004)

Jill has friends who have recently moved from Austin to Rockport close to Corpus Christi on the gulf coast. They invited us to go fishing once, so Jill (who I found particularly cute that afternoon) and I went over there, got ourselves a fishing permit (something like 25 dollars a day and person), and tried to fish our dinner. Needless to say, we caught a few fish that were too small and therefore had to go back into the sea, some seaweed, and nothing else. Here are at least a few impressions of that day.

The first task when going fishing is to catch a few really small fish used as bait. This is done using a net, and if you know how to do it, it isn't actually so hard to catch some. Here is someone who knows that (Jill's friend Connie's husband) and someone who doesn't yet (Jill), trying to set up the net:

Nevertheless, it ultimately worked (left), and then the big wait begins:

Finally, there is harvesting season: seaweed and small fish:
