Going fishing (July 2004)
Jill has friends who have recently moved from Austin to
Rockport close to Corpus Christi on the gulf coast. They
invited us to go fishing once, so Jill (who I found
particularly cute that afternoon) and I went over there, got
ourselves a fishing permit (something like 25 dollars a day
and person), and tried to fish our dinner. Needless to say, we
caught a few fish that were too small and therefore had to go
back into the sea, some seaweed, and nothing else. Here are at
least a few impressions of that day.
The first task when going fishing is to catch a few really
small fish used as bait. This is done using a net, and if you
know how to do it, it isn't actually so hard to catch
some. Here is someone who knows that (Jill's friend Connie's
husband) and someone who doesn't yet (Jill), trying to set up
the net:
