Howdy (November 2005)

As is known by now, I'm now with Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. People greet each other with "Howdy" on campus, and the school is big on traditions in any respect. So there is no way around also going to see a football game. The audience of some 80,000 is really impressive every time I think about it — I grew up with soccer in Germany and there is exactly one stadium in all of Germany that holds more than 60,000 people, whereas here pretty much every game is sold out. That everyone shows up in maroon (the school's color) makes it even more impressive:
