When I moved to Austin, I got myself a digital camera, making it simpler
to allow others to trace my ways in this new country. So this
is the place for the friends at home to see where I have been...
Clicking on an image will produce a larger version. To see
earlier or later pictures, use the menu bar at the right,
which is sorted reverse chronological, i.e. newest sets of pictures
at the top.
Germany in winter (December 2005)
Here's a bit of snow in Germany from around Christmas
2005. The first few pictures are from a visit in the
Hunsrück area in the west of Germany where our friends
Marc and Pamela hail from. Unfortunately, I don't seem to have
a picture of the two of them from the front. In any case,
here's first Pam and Jill pushing the stroller with their
daughter Amy, then Jill in the ruins of an old castle, then
the castle by itself:
Then here's some old-town feeling in downtown Mainz:
Finally, even grown men (me, my brother in law Simon, my dad,
and my uncle Karl-Ernst; average age around 50) sometimes need
to be silly and build snow men when the opportunity presents
itself. It took all four of us to lift its head onto the
torso:
