Ordinary differential equations, solutions in series, solutions using Laplace transforms, systems of differential equations. Prerequisites: MATH 251 or equivalent; knowledge of computer algebra system.
This course is to provide students with quantitative and problem-solving skills of differential equations. At the conclusion of this course, students should be able to:
Math 251 (Calculus III) or equivalent. That means you are expected to know integration, differentiation, college algebra and arithmetic. The prerequisites will be taken seriously and mistakes in basic mathematics will incur a significant penalty.

Homework is posted on eCampus (or the MATH 308 course homepage). It will be collected on Tuesday the week following the week it was set.
We will have weekly quizzes on Tuesdays starting from week 2. Typically, one of the previous week's homework questions will be given as the quiz.
The projects will be given to students in sections 2xx only and will contribute towards the final exam grade.
The following grade breakdown will be used:

Make-ups for missed quizzes and exams will only be allowed for a university approved excuse in writing. Wherever possible, students should inform the instructor before an exam or quiz is missed. Consistent with University Student Rules, students are required to notify the instructor by the end of the next working day after missing an exam or quiz. Otherwise, they forfeit their rights to a make-up.
Sometimes the instructor or the grader might make a mistake grading your work. If you feel that this has happened, you have one week since the graded work was handed back to you to talk to the instructor. If a mistake is confirmed, the grade will be changed. No complaints after that deadline will be considered.
Copying work done by others, either in-class or out of class, is an act of scholastic dishonesty and will be prosecuted to the full extent allowed by University policy. Collaboration on assignments, either in-class or out-of-class, is forbidden unless permission to do so is granted by your instructor. For more information on university policies regarding scholastic dishonesty, see University Student Rules.
