The course

This course, an introduction to linear algebra, is intended primarily for majors in mathematics and science. Topics to be covered include systems of linear equations, matrices, determinants, vector spaces, linear transformations, change of basis, orthogonality, inner products, eigenvalues, and diagonalization of matrices.

Textbook
The textbook is Linear Algebra with Applications, seventh edition, by Steven J. Leon, 2006, ISBN–13: 978–0131857858. The course covers most of Chapters 1–5 and the first three sections of Chapter 6.
Prerequisites
The prerequisites for this course are Math 152 or 172 (second-semester calculus) and Math 220 (fundamentals of discrete mathematics).
Venue
Section 502 meets 12:45–14:00 in BLOC 163 on Tuesday and Thursday.
