Goals for Class 1

• Get an account set up on the mathematics department calclab machines. You should also have an account either on the main mathematics server (for Mathematics graduate students) or on the university general access UNIX machine tam2000 (for other students).
• Get used to manipulating windows (moving, resizing, raising, lowering, iconizing, etc.)
• Be able to send and to read electronic mail (email).
• Be able to use simple Maple commands.
• Be able to do simple editing of text files.
• Be able to process a simple LaTeX file, preview it on the screen, and print hard copy.
