Math 640 - Course Outline - Fall 2007
Important Announcement (updated Saturday, September 1):
The WebCT system is now operational. Most of the materials
for this course have now been uploaded. Therefore, from
this date forward, you should access all course materials
for Math 640 through WebCT. The web address is
http://elearning.tamu.edu/ and then you should login with
your NetID number. After logging in you should see the
link to Math 640. I recommend reading over the document
entitled "the use of WebCT in Math 640" if you are unfamiliar
with WebCT. Then go to the link to Course Content (the "big folder"
icon) where you will see links to each course chapter.
Assignment 1A is due Sept 10 and must be submitted
through WebCT.

prerequisites, grading, and format
- Course Calendar -
a weekly calendar of sections covered and assignments due;
Note : assignments will be submitted thru WebCT, unless
technical problems with WebCT persist.
- Preliminary Assignment, on the use of WebCT, due Monday Sept 3
(assuming WebCT is operational) - this assignment has been
cancelled.
- Course Notes for Chapter 1 -
a summary (in .pdf format) of notes for chapter 1 of the text
- Important Matlab Commands -
a quick reference sheet for important Matlabl commands.
Initially, Matlab will be useful for checking that your
computations are correct (on homework). Matlab will
be an essential tool for your project (due at the end
of the term).
- Assignment 1A over sections
1.1-1.5 in the text, due Monday, Sept 10. Assignments should
be either typed or neatly hand-written and will be submitted
electronically thru WebCT (unless technical problems persist -
stay tuned). Word (.doc) files are fine; if hand-written, then
you should scan your assignment as a .pdf file for submission.
- Video-lectures. Summary lectures
via streaming video (requires good internet connection).
