Course Content:
The course starts with techniques of integration
and applications of integration (area, volume,
arc length, work, hydrostatic force, center of
mass, etc.) and first order differential equations.
The course then covers sequences and series. Finally,
the course covers three-dimensional analytic geometry
(3D vectors, dot and cross products). The course
meets for three hours per week with an instructor
and twice a week in recitation with a teaching
assistant. One recitation meeting is devoted to
discussing questions over a lecture or a homework.
The second recitation meeting is in a computer
laboratory, where students learn how to use a
computer package (Maple or Matlab) to solve problems
that are too difficult to solve by hand.
Prerequisite: MATH 151.

Homework: Starting Thursday,
September 13, you will be required to turn in
homework using the ThomsonNOW
online system.
Grading: You
will be expected to attend all class meetings;
I do keep track of such matters. There will be
three in-term common exams (the first two worth
15% toward your final grade and the third worth
20%) and the final exam will be worth 25%. The
remaining 25% will be Homework, quizzes (which
might not be announced), attendance, and the Maple
labs.
