MATH 141 Course Policies

Your semester grade will be calculated by the formula on the syllabus. Keep good records of all your graded work. In case you think an error exists, you can then prove it.

  1. Attendance :
Class attendance is highly recommended. Extra credit porblems may be given in a class unannounced and cannot be made up.
  2. Make-up Exams :
Make-up exams will be permitted only with a documented University excuse . See University Student Rules .

  3. Quizzes :
In-class quizzes will be given regularly, mainly on Thursdays, and announced on my web page.
The standard method automatically applies unless you inform me in writing that the alternative way is preferred.
    (a) Standard Method:
No makeup quizzes will be given for any reason, and the two lowest quiz scores will be dropped
at the end of the semester. Students with three or more documented university excuses need to make special arrangement with me. All excuses must be turned in no later than the week after the missed quiz.
    (b) Alternative Method:
No quiz scores will be dropped if a student chooses to make up a missed quiz.
You must notify me within 2 working days of the missed quiz to arrange for a makeup and present a documented university approved excuse.

  4. Homework :
Online Homework assignments on webassign.net are required. Your three lowest homework grades will be dropped.
  5. Calculator :
A TI-83/84 or TI-83/84 plus is required. Other models will not be permitted on quizzes or exams. Sharing of calculators during tests or quizzes is prohibited. Calculators must be reset before and after exams. They will be checked and unapproved programs deleted.

  6. Copyright:
All handouts, quizzes, exams, and materials on my webpage are copyrighted. Consequently, you are not allowed to distribute any of these without my prior permission.

  7. Scholastic dishonesty will not be tolerated!
Copying other's work and turning it in as your own is committing plagiarism. Looking on other students' papers during exams or quizzes, having possession of unapproved information in your calculator, or having someone else do your work are all acts of scholastic dishonesty, and will be prosecuted to the full extent under University regulations.
