Course Description: Understanding and applying technology and communication methods in the mathematics classroom.

Software Purchase: You will need Maple 9 for this course. There is a special purchase program and price that will be announced later.

Scope: Each student will select four tracks from the list below. From this a syllabus will be constructed of tasks and milestones to be accomplished.

*Document preparation, converting math to the Web, graphics TeX or MSWord
Making graphics for the Web Corel Draw or Adobe Illustrator
*CAS engines Maple 9
*Web Pages HTML, CSS, Forms, Rollovers, Layers
Scripting languages Java, JavaScript, DHTML
Graphing calculators in the classroom TI-89, TI-83
* required

For each topic at least three projects will be assigned. This gives nine projects. There will also be a capstone projects that connects all three topics. Occasionally, you will need to make reports on various Web sites that pertain to the topics you have selected.

Policies:

  1. All work will be graded. Absolutely no late work will be accepted.
  2. It is the policy of this course that all students should work independently on all assigned work, unless explicitly stated otherwise. Policies pertaining to absences, scholastic dishonesty, and final exams are identical to TAMU regulations. Students with an official excused absence are permitted to make up work only for the dates of the absence. All other assigned work, even that assigned on the excused date, is due as assigned.
  3. Copyright: All printed hand-outs and Web-materials are protected by US Copyright Laws. No multiple copies can be made without written permission by the instructor.
