The Caesar's shift was one of the earliest encryptions used. More than two thousand years ago, Julius Caesar was able to convey secret messages to his generals and colleagues. It is simple and effective. However, it is now easy to decypher using frequency analysis. That is the number of each letter occurrance is counted and compared with standard frequency counts for normal text. This can help the cryptographer determine or guess the true letters. The encryption algorithm above uses 94 standard printable characters. This is why some of the letters are converted to symbols. The space character is not changed. Messages
up to 500 total characters, including spaces, are permitted. |
