Deleting programs on the TI-83

Instructions for Deleting Programs on TI Calculators

Most instructors require that programs and/or games be deleted (not just emptied or archived with an asterisk in front of the name) before you arrive for an exam or quiz.  Failure to comply could result in loss of calculator privileges on the exam.

If you have the program TI-Graph Link and a link cable, programs and games can be downloaded to a computer before they are deleted so they won't be lost.  Free Graph Link software can be downloaded from the Texas Instruments web site at http://education.ti.com/us/product/accessory/connectivity/down/download.html.

To delete programs on the TI-83 (not Plus):

Turn the calculator on and press 2nd, + (MEM), 2:Delete, 7:Prgm.  This shows a list of all programs with the cursor pointed at the first one.  Use the up- or down-arrow keys to place the cursor in front of the one you want to delete, then press ENTER.  Repeat for all programs that are to be deleted.

To delete programs on the TI-83 Plus:

Turn the calculator on and press 2nd, + (MEM), 2:Delete, 7:Prgm.  This shows a list of all programs with the cursor pointed at the first one.  Use the up- or down-arrow keys to place the cursor in front of the one you want to delete, then press DEL.  The calculator will then ask if you're sure you want to delete, so press 2:Yes.  Repeat for all programs that are to be deleted.
