Special colloquium by Michael Lacey, Oct 17 ** On Tuesday, October 17, Professor Michael Lacey, from Georgia Tech, will present a special colloquium talk entitled "Convergence of Fourier Series" at 4pm in Milner 317. This talk will survey the emerging theory around Carleson's famous theorem asserting the pointwise convergence of square summable Fourier series. He will explain why this theorem is hard; why the methods of proof are of interest, and present a survey of the striking related results that have been proved in the last few years. This talk will report on the work of many people, including the contributions of Christoph Thiele, Terrance Tao, and Camil Muscalu.
