Course Content: The goal is to provide the fundamentals of elementary linear algebra including the notion of abstract vector space and linear transformations and to give applications of these ideas. Course content includes: linear equations and matrices, real vector spaces, linear transformations, change of bases, determinants, eigenvalues and eigenvectors, diagonalization and inner products.

Grading Policy:

• Test I (Feb 15), 25% of your grade.
• Test II (March 29), 25% of your grade.
• Quizzes, 25% of your grade.
• Final exam (Friday May 4, 3:00-5:00 p.m. BLOC 156), comprehensive but emphasizing material covered after Test II 25% of your grade.
• Homework assignments: the quizzes will be based on homework assignments although homework will not be graded.

Note: Q-drop deadline is April 2

MAKE-UP POLICY: Make-ups for missed quizzes and exams will only be allowed for a university approved excuse in writing. Wherever possible, students should inform the instructor before an exam or quiz is missed. Consistent with University Student Rules , students are required to notify an instructor by the end of the next working day after missing an exam or quiz. Otherwise, they forfeit their rights to a make-up.

SCHOLASTIC DISHONESTY: Copying work done by others, either in-class or out of class, is an act of scholastic dishonesty and will be prosecuted to the full extent allowed by University policy. Collaboration on assignments, either in-class or out-of-class, is forbidden unless permission to do so is granted by your instructor.
