Abstract: In recent work, Misra and I characterize quotient Hilbert modules of kernel Hilbert modules over domains in C^n by submodules determined by hypersurfaces. Here, I consider the question of whether or not the C*-algebras determined by the operators defined by the module actions are related in any reasonable manner. We will focus on a few concrete examples involving the Toeplitz algebra over the bidisk. Its ideal structure is key to the conclusions we reach and our analysis rests on an earlier approach to the study of this algebra by Roger Howe and me introduced in the seventies.
