Texas A&M:
Functional analysis
Groups and dynamics
The concentration week in Operator Algebras, Dynamics, and Classification will form one of the activities in the 2008 installment of the Workshop in Analysis and Probability which takes place every summer at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. The core focus of the concentration week is the interaction between dynamics and the classification and structure theory of C*-algebras, and lecture series by Nathanial Brown, David Kerr, and Andrew Toms will be aimed at introducing advanced graduate students and postdocs to the subject. At the same time we wish to place C*-structure theory within a broader context of dynamical ideas connected to operator algebras, with a particular view to problems in orbit equivalence and the analytic and geometric study of infinite groups.

The concentration week will be preceded by another concentration week in Multivariable Operator Theory, which runs from July 28 to August 1, and immediately followed by SUMIRFAS, which runs from August 8 to 10.

The workshop is supported in part by grants from the National Science Foundation. Minorities, women, graduate students, and young researchers are especially encouraged to attend.
