Title: Free entropy dimension and B-circular operators
Time and Place: Friday, 10/14 and 10/21, 12:35-1:30pm, Milner 317

Abstract: The free entropy dimension was introduced by Voiculescu in an attempt to distinguish the free group factors. We will give an introductory talk to this concept, definitions, basic properties and some of the applications. Then we will define the B-circular operator. These ones were introduced by K.Dykema and are a special case of the Speicher's B-Gaussian operators. We will present the proof that the free entropy dimension of the DT-operator is 2, and we will show some lower bounds estimates for the free entropy dimension of some more general B-circular operators.
