CATALOG DESCRIPTION: Linear equations and applications, linear forms and systems of linear equations, matrix algebra and applications, linear programming (graphical and simplex methods), probability and applications, statistics.

TEXT: Finite Mathematics For the Managerial, Life, and Social Sciences, 6th Ed., by Tan

Supplemental Text: Hester/Ryan; TI-82/83 Student Resource Manual for Applied Finite Mathematics.

CALCULATOR: A TI-83 is required.

COMPUTER ACTIVITIES: There will be 10 computer modules [worth 10 pts each]. Be sure to print out a written record of your score as backup!

EXAMS: There will be three exams worth 100 points each.

HOMEWORK: There will be 14 homework assignments this semester worth 10 points each. I will take the best 10 scores.

FINAL: The final will be comprehensive and is worth 200 points.

MAKE-UP EXAMS: If you miss an exam with a documented TAMU sanctioned absence (see University regulations for a list), the preferred make-up exam is to use one-half of the grade on the final exam in place of the missing exam.

There are a total of 750 points possible. At the end of the semester, if you have 675 or more points, you will receive an A. Totals between 600 and 674 will receive a B. 525 to 599 points will be a C. 450 to 524 points will be a D. Less than 449 points will be an F.

POLICIES: Attendance is expected. In the case of borderline grades (less than 10 points below a higher grade) attendance and your grade on the final will be a consideration.

Any course work missed will be excused only with a written excuse with your name, section number and assignments missed written clearly on it. I will keep these excuses, so make an extra copy. All printed hand-outs, web-materials and exams are protected by US Copyright Laws. No multiple copies can be made without written permission by the instructor.

SCHOLASTIC DISHONESTY WILL NOT BE TOLERATED! Any instance of scholastic dishonesty will be handled as consistent with University Regulations.
