3.9 Slopes and Tangents of Parametric Curves
Key Concepts
If a curve is given parametrically by x=x(t) and y=y(t), then the tangent to the curve is given by < x'(t), y'(t) >. The slope of this tangent vector is

slope = y'(t) / x'(t) = rise/run

Note: This can easily be remembered by

dy/dx = [dy/dt] / [dx/dt]
