Accomodations

Most Conference Participants will be staying at one of three locations: The Holiday Inn, the LaQuinta Inn, or Vineyard Court Suites. Limited blocks of rooms have been reserved at these hotels for the nights of 05/17/00 through 05/20/00.

All conference participants are requested to fill out the registration form. Persons planning to stay in a hotel room should indicate their room preferences on the registration form. We will make the reservation for you and send you confirmation. After May 1st 2000, hotel rooms will be reserved on a space avalable basis.

The room rate is $55.00/night at LaQuinta Inn (two double beds) for single or double occupancy, plus 13% occupancy tax, and $55.00/night at Holiday Inn. Graduate students might be asked to share a room with another student.

Directions for those participants coming to College Station from Houston:

You will be heading North on State Highway 6 as you enter College Station. You will need to take the "Texas A&M
University / Business 6" Exit -- which is the LEFT lane. Business 6 becomes "Texas Avenue South" inside the College Station city limits. Continue heading north on Texas Ave. South, through College Station.

The Holiday Inn is on the left side of Texas Ave. South, approximately two miles from where you took the left exit. Its precise address is 1503 Texas Av. S. Phone: (979) 693-1736.

The LaQuinta Inn is approximately two miles further north, on Texas Ave. South, on the right side (A Denny's Restaurant is in front of the LaQuinta). Its precise address is 607 Texas Avenue South, at the corner of Texas Avenue and Live Oak Street, just north of the Texas A&M University Golf Course. Phone: (979) 696-7777.

If you are staying at Vineyard Court, you will need to turn right at the intersection/light at George Bush Drive East and Texas Avenue South. Vineyard Court is one block east of Texas Avenue, on the corner of George Bush East and Dominic Drive. Its precise address is 1500 George Bush Dr. E. Phone: (979) 693-1220.

If you wish to apply for support to cover lodging expenses, please request support on the registration form. If your request for support is approved, we will pay your hotel bill (nightly rate and applicable taxes) directly. Supported participants must inform conference organizers of cancellation or modification of reservation by Noon on Tuesday, May 16, 2000, to avoid liability for one night's room rate.

If you are not planning to apply for support, then we will make your hotel reservation for you, and send you a confirmation number. Non-supported participants must provide the hotel (phone numbers will be included with confirmation information) with a personal credit card number to guarantee the room if arriving after 6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 17, 2000.

Directions for those participants coming to College Station from Austin/Dallas-Fort Worth:

You will be entering the Bryan/College Station area on Highway 21/Highway 190 (The one highway has BOTH numbers!) You will need to take the Highway 6 Exit, South, toward Houston. Heading South, you will pass several exits into the City of Bryan. You will take the University Drive/Texas A&M University campus exit, which is the first exit into the City of College Station. You will turn right onto University Drive, heading west, toward Texas A&M. (The Scott and White Clinic will be on your left) At the intersection of Texas Avenue and University Drive, you will turn left onto Texas Avenue, heading south.

The LaQuinta Inn is on the left side of Texas Avenue, soon after you turn from University Drive.

To reach Vineyard Court, you will need to continue south on Texas Avenue, to the intersection of George Bush Drive and Texas Avenue. Turn left onto George Bush Drive EAST. Vineyard Court is one block east of Texas Avenue, at the corner of George Bush East and Dominic Drive.

To reach the Holiday Inn, you will need to continue heading South on Texas Avenue, for approximately two more miles. The Holiday Inn is on the right side of Texas Avenue.
