The book first appeared in a preliminary edition in the fall of 1995 with the opening of the Differential Equations Labs in Blocker 131. It was completely rewritten in the summer of 1996 by Maury Rahe to bring a unity of style and to update the manuscript to Release 4 of Maple. In addition, an index was introduced to facilitate student access to materials. Since partial differential equations are now covered in Release 4, an additional chapter on partial differential equations was written by Jack Bryant and Maury Rahe. The manuscript was delivered to Brooks/Cole publishing in early October. Initial external reviews comissioned by Brooks/Cole are favorable.
