conference proceedings and one monograph (co-authored by A. Samarskii

Research interests
- Finite volume, finite difference, and finite element methods for steady-state
and transient problems, adaptive grid refinement and error control
- Least-squares finite element approximations for partial differential equations
and systems of equations
- Convergence and super-convergence analysis of numerical methods
- Domain decomposition, penalty and mortar approximations on non-matching grids
- Modeling and numerical simulation of flows in porous media
Invited presentations
Lazarov has given more that 50 invited lectures at conferences,
workshops, symposia, and summer schools. List of

Teaching
Lazarov has taught
courses
in numerical analysis, applied mathematics,
differential equations, partial differential equations, finite elements, and
finite differences at Sofia University, the University of Wyoming, and
Texas A&M University. He has advised more than 30 master students and
he has directed Ph. D. dissertations of 16
students . Currently he is on the committee
responsible for the qualifying exam
on Numerical Analysis.
