Math 300 Writing Assignment 1
due Sunday 09/08/2019
Points possible: 12
Note: you are allowed to submit this assignment after enrollement in the group corresponding to your topic number (see eCampus).

  • A Paper Proposal is the first step to writing a Term Paper. Write a Paper Proposal  describing the chosen topic. It should include
  •  a  paragraph  telling your instructor a specific reason you are attracted to this topic;
  • a brief paragraph related to history of the topic;
  • a brief description of your project and what you already know about this topic.
  •  Use your own language and avoid quotations and citations.
  • The proposal should be about 250 words (approximately one page; avoid quotations).
  • Type your text and create a PDF file (recommended). Make sure your proposal includes your name, section number  and title.
  • Upload the file  to Turnitin on eCampus (see the instructions below).
  • Go to the website eCampus.tamu.edu
  • Get into your course (Math 300).
  • Click the TurnItIn link and continue to the paper you are submitting for.
  • Click "Submit paper".
  • Fill out the form it brings up and select what file to upload (submitting .pdf files is preferred over .doc files).  (Your paper must be in MS Word, WordPerfect, PostScript, PDF, HTML, or Plain Text format in order to be submitted.)
  • Finally in the upper corner click the Submit button. This will bring you to a confirmation page. Once you are certain you want to submit this paper click Yes, Submit
  • Make sure you get a receipt for your submission. That is how you will tell if it went in correctly
  • Once submitted, TurnItIn will evaluate your paper and after a short period of time (this time will vary depending on internet traffic) you will be able to view your originality report for your submission
  • If your originality report for your submission is a very low number (<5%) you are done and we can grade your paper. If it is not, your paper will be considered further for evidence of plagiarism. You can avoid this problem by fixing your report and resubmitting. I will only consider your last submission.
  • Getting Feedback (if relevant): Feedback can be found in the same TurnItIn assignment you submitted to in eCampus. Click "GradeMark" to see my comments.
