SPECIAL LECTURES:

Hal Schenck from Cornell University will present a talk entitled Splines, Homological Algebra, and some interesting Ideals , on Friday, the 7th of February, at 3:00 pm, in 216 Milner Hall. Mr. Schenck will be hosted by the Geometry-Analysis-Topology Group .

Eugenio Hernandez from Univeridad Autonoma de Madrid will speak on Band-limited wavelets with subexponential decay , on Tuesday, the 11th of February, at 10:00 am, in 317 Milner Hall. Professor Hernandez will be hosted by the Linear Analysis Group.

Guido Weiss from Washington University at St. Louis will give three lectures in the department, under the auspices of the Frontiers in Mathematics Lecture Series . Details are as follows:

Sam Shen from University of Alberta, Canada, will speak on Two mathematical problems in the research into climate change detection , on Wednesday, the 19th of February, at 2:00 pm, in 317 Milner Hall.

Charles Micchelli from IBM will speak on A measure of dissimilarity between multivariate normal probability densities , on Thursday, the 17th of April, at 2:15 pm, in 317 Milner Hall.
