The problems listed below are ones that I suggest you look at, and figure out how to work. They are not to be turned in. However, don't be surprised if they turn up on a quiz or exam.

Week 1 (Aug. 29):
Read the preliminary chapter, Review and Preview. Go through the handout on properties of the absolute value function.
Read section 1.1.

Week 2 (Sept. 5):
Read sections 1.2, and 1.3. Work the following problems.

Page 99: 1 -- 43, 51 --64. Work every one of these!
Page 110: 2, 3, 7, 11, 15, 20, 30.

Week 4 (Sept. 19):
Read sections 2.4 through 2.7. Work the following problems
