Text: Differential Equations and Boundary Value Problems by Nagle, Saff, and Snider, Custom Edition. A good reference for Matlab® is Matlab® An Introduction with Applications 2 nd edition by Amos Gilat

Prerequisite: Math 253 (third semester calculus) or its equivalent.


We will have one midterm exam, worth 100 points, matlab project(s), quizzes, and a final exam worth 150 points. The net value of quizzes and project(s) will be 100 points for a grand total of 350 points. As usual an A is 90%, a B 80%, etc.


I plan to cover Chapters 1, 2, 4, 9, 7, and 8. Some additional material will also be discussed in particular I want to augment the text's treatment of special functions (Chap. 8). Some material from Chapter 3 may also be presented.
