Math 412 -- 501, Fall 2002
TTh: 2:20 -- 3:35 in Blocker 120

Instructor: Michael Stecher

Text: Elementary Applied Partial Differential Equations by Richard Haberman

Office: Milner 126, 845-3269, stecher@math.tamu.edu

Office Hours: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:00 until 2:00, and by appointment
I realize that many of you will not be able to avail yourselves of my office hours. If that is the case, let me know, and we will arrange a time that is suitable for both of us. Do not wait too long if you are having problems. The sooner we get them fixed the happier both of us will be. I also encourage you to make use of e-mail. I check my mail on a regular basis, and have been known to answer questions in the wee small hours of the morning. The URL for the web page for this course is

http://www.math.tamu.edu/~stecher/412/index-412.shtml

Go to this page to find assignments, solutions to various problems that arise during the semester, exam schedules, and announcements of any sort. I would encourage you to check this page out at least once or twice a week.

Currently I am planning to cover most, but not all, of the material in Chapters 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 9, 10, and 7 of Haberman's text, in the order given. Some of the chapters, 3 in particular, will have additional topics inserted. Thus, it is imperative that you attend class on a regular basis.

Your semester grade will be based upon the following

An A is 90% or 360 points, a B is 80% or 320 points, etc.
